SCHINDLER'S LIST
Thousands of movies all over the world but there
would be that some which you’ll like the most, and as for me, one of my
favorites was the 1993 American epic historical drama film “Schindler’s List”.
The movie has touched thousands or even millions of people who have seen it and
one of them is me.
PLOT
The story was about a man, specifically a german who
happened to save thousands of Jews. It all started when World War II began;
when the germans move Polish Jews into the Krakow Ghetto, and there is this one
German Businessman who arrived in the City hoping to make his fortune. He had
his business started by the help of Itzhak Stern. They were able to run the
business after they bribed the German Armed Forces and the SS Officials. The
factory has workers which is all Jews. As Second Lieutenant Amon Goeth arrives
in the City to oversee the construction, it brought fear to every Jews because
he randomly shots someone and when Schindler witnessed the bad doing he strived
more to protect the Jews especially those who worked on him.
The Germans loses the war, Goeth was ordered to ship
the remaining Jews to Auschwitz Concentration Camp. Schindler knows what will
happen to the Jews, so he asked Goeth to allow his workers to go with him for
the former will work to his new factory. Negotiations happened; Schindler has
to pay for each. He was able to save thousands of lives through his money. He’s
not completely happy because he wasn't able to save all. Jews on Schindler’s
list was given freedom because of the former’s greatness.
The film has its strength when it comes to
characterizations, how well the performance of each one of them, the
cinematography, the settings, the soundtrack and most especially the story.
THE CHARACTERS
LIAM NEESON played the role of Oskar Schindler
BEN KINGSLEY played the role of Itzhak Stern
RALPH FIENNES played the role of Amon Goeth
CAROLINE GOODALL played the role of Emilie Schindler
JONATHAN SAGALL played the role of Poldek
Pfefferberg
ANNA MUCHA played the role of Danka Dresner
The characters were rightly chosen. They were able
to portray their roles effectively and professionally. By their permormances
you can really say that they are one of a kind and are professionals, they will
not be chosen really if they are not.
Liam Neeson’s acting that played the role of the
antagonist Oskar Schindler was very effective for it touches the hearts of the
people who have seen the movie. Emotions were very evident to everything that
he is doing. And he has this face that is right for the characteristics of the
character. He has this face that represents a person with a good heart. His
actings were very effective beacause it touches me, I even cried the moment
when he feel what he did was still not enough because it just shows how good
really is, in fact what he did is too much.
For Ralph Fiennes who played the role of the evil
Amon Goeth, the acting is very effective too because you will really see
through his actions the evil side of Amon. I can see that the acting is
effective because when you see Amon you’ll totally hate him. He acts like he is
a psycho and he played it very well. I also like the part when he tried to
change for the better where he really did great, you’ll totally be amazed that
an evil has turned to be an angel.
All the characters in the movie has played their
roles very well, emotions were very evident; from fear to relieved faces, from
sad to happy one and the appreciation. When you see them being in the situation
it’s like you felt what they are feeling, your heart aches when you see them
hurting and it just meant one thing; that they have played their roles well.
SETTINGS and sountrack
Choosing a setting would probably be one of the hardest
things in Movies. It should reflect what the story is all about. An effective
movie has the right settings and as for the the movie Schindler’s List, it has
the proper setting. The place shows its face when this story happened; on how
the place looks like from houses to newly built buildings. The place somewhat
looks dirty too which is just proper for me. Houses represent time when this
story happened.
The music played well too in the movie. The
sountrack should speak for the emotions of characters and the movie itself. The
soundtrack of the movie speaks for emotions. You can really feel what they are
going through and it somehow brings you to the time when it happened. Voices of
children bring goosebumps to me.
Cinematography
The Cinematography is perfect. The black and white
effect that turned into a colored one in the end shows message for me, the
black and white part shows the miserable life of the people on how mostly
suffered and when it turned to be a colored one it shows that their sufferings
has ended. Angles were good too; it focuses the faces when it shows great emotions.
All in all the cinematographer has done his part well.
The movie is perfect for everyone because the movie
has lessons that can be and should be applied. Like the goodness of Schindler,
where he is willing to give everything for the sake of others. We can also
learn from Amon the moment he tried to change, that it is never too late to change for the better.
